LAN LANPASS - Upgrading award tickets with upgrade vouchers ...

I just realized that since June 2011 it is possible to upgrade LA award tickets with upgrade vouchers ...

with such tools as expert flyer it should be quite easy to pick a flight with low business class load ... I had no problem with that strategy this january/february on MAD-LIM-MAD when LAN had tried out to offer the possibility to upgrade award tickets.

I use all my upgrade coupons on award flights
It is the only sure-fire way to make sure you don't buy an upgradeable fare which potentially costs more than a business fare.

A bit rubbish for rubies that don't get lounge access or priority boarding as the upgrade is confirmed at the gate.

I have never had an upgrade not go through on award tix. I probably just tempted fate because tonight's flight looks to be abnormally full and if I don't get my upgrade I am flying in the aft lavatory.
