Aircraft is newly-delivered A330-200 (B-6537). Looks to me like the Thales IFE system.
Finally there's some proper IFE in Y.

Wow, nice. I've been nothing but impressed by the new aircraft coming to the Chinese airlines. The old ones are really bad though.

Where do these aircrafts serve?

It won't change the fact that MU is MU or the likely limited IFE selection, but it's definitely good to see things moving in the right direction in China.

The first long haul flight will be to LHR.

Actually, recently flew MU in J and selection was nice. Not the same as perhaps a US carrier, but plenty of good options.

Off topic, but I'd been meaning to ask your about your NRT-PVG flight. I actually prefer MU to NH and JL on that sector, and was wondering if your experience was similar. Nice airplane?

Ok - great, they have PTVs. Now what kind of programming are they going to have? Will they have any English programing? If so, something better than CCTV? I realize that this is a very English language centric comment and it is unfair since MU is a Chinese carrier but I never have much hope with any Chinese airlines and their onboard programming.

Well, flew nice new A330 on the way over. J was pretty much the same as JL J (near lie flat seats), but wonderful service (as you said) and great movie selection. Wished the flight were longer.
Flew and old wide body on the way back and it was old old J seats, nothing to brag about. No PTV/AVOD but service/food was good.
If it's a newer plane, fly MU, older I'd be ok somewhere else unless you love the mix of Japanese/Chinese FA's. :p
