I hope this is the right place to ask this. :)

How would you recommend traveling from Orly airport in Paris to Nantes? I was thinking of taking the TGV, but I can't find what the nearest TGV station would be from the airport. Also, how would I get there if it's not within walking distance?

What is the closest TGV stop to the University of Nantes? Are there any good hotels in the area? And how should I travel from this station to the hotel?

Thank you! :)

Welcome to FT!
Not sure what you were searching and that you couldn't find how to make your journey?
You can find bus transfers etc from Orly Airport here http://paris.angloinfo.com/information/6/airtransfer.asp
And www.raileurope.com is a fine resource. It shows hourly trains from Gare Montparnasse to Nantes.
The main railway station in Nantes is where TGV trains arrive.
I'm sure someone with better local knowledge can tell you about hotels in Nantes. I'm sure you could take a taxi to your hotel, if it's not within walking distance.

Welcome. First is to look up the SNCF site (Societe National Chemin de Fer). All indications are TGVs for that part of the Loire leave from Gare Montparnesse and arrive at the main station in Nantes.
If you are sure you're arriving at ORY, Air France bus (look up Cars Air France) line 1 would be your easiest way to get to Montparnesse. Line 4 if your flight actually arrives at CDG.

You have to take a TGV from Gare Montparnasse, which leaves about every hour for Nantes, where you'll arrive in the center of the city. Alternatively there are also (fewer) TGVs from Massy TGV station which is closer to Orly, but as far as I know, Massy is not linked by public transport to Orly airport. From Orly to Montparnasse, either by AF bus or taxi. Alternatively you can take Orlyval trainlink to RER B and then to Denfert-Rochereau RER station, where you have to change onto the Metro for 2 stations until Montparnasse, not to be recommended with luggage.

You can also catch a TGV at Massy-TGV.
From ORY, there is a direct bus to the station. The TGV frequency is less than at Gare Montparnasse, but I think it is easier to go to Massy-TGV.

Orly access (http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/Access-maps-car-parks/Paris-Orly/Access/public-transport/)

Line 91.10 frequency: 30 min at peak hours - 1h off peak.
Or take the ADP shuttle to RER C station "Pont de Rungis-Aéroport d'Orly" and catch a train to Massy-Palaiseau. The TGV station is there.

Or take OrlyVal to Antony and RER B to Massy-Palaiseau if you miss the bus. There's an RER B from Antony to Massy-Palaiseau every 8mn at off-peak times, every 4mn at peak times
- 6mn ride on OrlyVal
- take the escalator up at Antony
- 4 to 8mn maximum wait at Antony
- 5-8mn ride to Massy-Palaiseau depending on whether the RER stops at each station
- 4mn walk from Massy-Palaiseau to Massy-TGV (stairs involved, escalators not in service yet)

Transport to Massy is easier than to Montparnasse, and Massy is a calmer train station, but as mentioned before there are fewer trains to Nantes. The bus and RER options mentioned above to Massy, ad the Air France bus option to Montparnasse are the best options for transfers to Orly. Also, as mentioned above, Nantes is the only TGV station in the area. Generally your train will terminate in Nantes, giving you plenty of time to get off the train in Nantes. There is a tram station at Nantes Gare for easy connections to the university campuses: http://www.univ-nantes.fr/adminsite/photo.jsp?ID_PHOTO=1234198504442
