Does anyone know if this is possible? I might be willing to forego the points and stay credit in exchange for saving the $100 but I certainly want to preserve my Diamond VIP privileges. etc.
What are your thoughts?

Hmmm-
My humble Gold experience has been that I get Gold Benefits when booking this way.
Also as we have all said multiple times if you are careful to get some incidental charges (mini-bar etc) on the folio then you get the stay credit too.
just my experience and YMMV.

Hey, thanks a LOT for the reminder!

Hi: I booked a Hilton through Expedia last Febrary, and a Hampton Inn in May, and I got 10 pts per dollar (room rate, and plus insidentals for the case of Hilton). The stays were counted toward the annual stay credit as well. Just no "online booking bonus."

10 pts / dollar will not occur if your stay is prepaid since the cost does not go on your portfolio. That's when it's important to have some incidentals. Just a reminder.

I have received normal Gold treatment on my Expedia and Priceline stays. I've always gotten my breakfast certs and a minor upgrade, where applicable. (I've never gotten a *major* upgrade to a suite on any rate as a Gold, but then again I don't stay in a lot of hotels where this is even an option.)
Oh, I see, you were talking about the "Expedia Special" rate. I was talking about booking through Expedia but payments made to Hilton. Sorry.
