Etihad Airways Etihad Guest - Accomodation at AUH during weather delays

Does anyone know if EY provides accomodation at AUH when there are long weather-related delays (6 hrs +) for your connecting flight?

I couldn't tell you for sure, but i'd imagine it would very much depend on the circumstances, and would guess that a more likely figure would be 12+ hrs. The big problem with weather delays is that the circumstances can change quickly and its difficult for a hard decision to be made unless the flight is cancelled or formally rescheduled.
In my experience, generally Etihad looks after you as well as any good carrier when things go wrong.

Is there a hotel nearby AUH airport in case of such long delays ? The city is very far from the airport.

Yes, quite a few hotels in the Yas Island area, which is around 10 minutes from the airport. They are all fairly new and good hotels. I've stayed in the Centro Yas Island which was excellent, really good value.

They do indeed use the Yas Island hotels which are just c15 mins from the airport. There is a Rotana, Centro, Crowne Plaza, Staybridge, Radisson Blu & Park Inn. The Park Inn & Radisson Blue seem to be used by EY. I have stayed in both & they are decent hotels.

Got stuck in AUH for 8h due to 24h Brussels airport strike.
EY provided hotel Rotana at Yas island for all Brussels bound passengers.
Excellent service I must say.
