Canada - 1 day in Montreal - Christmastime

Thinking about taking a quick jaunt up to Montreal the weekend before Christmas. Never been there that time of year, but someone told me it was definitely a place to check out. I would only have one full day (arrive late evening the previous night, full day there, and then drive back the following). Not looking so much for shows or events so much as just sightseeing and places to check out. If you had one day to spend in the city before Christmas, where would you go?

And yes, I know it will be cold. I can deal with that.
