Has anyone been able to book kosher on aa from jfk-sjo in business/first?
Logically one should be able to, as technically it fits into transcontinental (north-central america), however the system seems not to allow it as they call it a caribbean booking...anyone have any advice, luck or contacts to get ksml meals ordered?

Try calling and asking or if u have time stop off in flatbush or queens and pick something up. I know that if ur going business they should give it to u, but better to buy food than be hungry

havent been to SJO in a few yrs but the last time theer , there was aGlatt kosher Burger King ina sort of strip mall shopping center.
wish I could give you the directions but just find the Main Shule and its on the same side of the road as the shule. If you were facing the shule then BK would be to your Right side (which is away from the highway as well
so getting off the highway youd make a Left and it will be on your Left its on the 2nd floor so just look for the BK sign
this is assuming it is still open and operating as a kosher place
the area is called Ezcazu (spelling is probably off) Id say < 1/2 hr from the airport if you know where you are going
No special meals offered on that route. http://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/duringFlight/dining/specialMeals.jsp
"Transcontinental" is limited to domestic US.
Special Meal Availability
Special meals are available on Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack and Breakfast Snack flights when ordered in advance.

As noted, there are no kosher meals available to Costa Rica (from the US).
Also, please note, the Burger King in Costa Rica is now closed
I just returned from atrip to Panam City, however, and the food selection is incredible! From the Super Kosher Supermarket (with the killer dirt cheap grill) to the upscale Darna Dairy Restaurants to the fancy steak house, it was tremendous!

sorry to hear that the BK has closed up, but not surprised. after all the small grocery store closed afew urs ago and couldnt amke it. CR has a nice shule but the community isnt religious
Panama has a vibrant Sephardi community and religious as well, therefore why you found everything that you did. Outside Panama theres Bogota and BA and Sao Paulo where thers a strong communtiy (religious as well) and restaurants etc.

It really is a gem in the rough. For a family vaction where everything could be convenient, it is ideal. Sunday to Thursday is plenty of time to see the majority of highlights. Downtown has easy access to food and a minyan, as well as the "jewish area".

thanks for the update on the bk. bummed about that but will make do. AA rebooked me since they eliminated my nonstop flight and with my friday return now being too close to shabbos, will end up being there for another 2 days so thats a shame.

anyone know if ones allowed to bring in cooked/raw poultry & meat into costa rica?
Arriving after the kosher supermarket closes and heading straight up north so I would like to bring a cooler on wheels with food for the week, as a checked bag. Will that be a big giant red flag?
Called the embassy & consulate and they don't know anything...asked for something in writing and was told it's pretty much at the discretion of the customs agent, but it's hard to believe that there's nothing in writing and no set rules.

i dont know of a single country that allows a person to bring in fresh meat. Heck CBP has gone thru my bag at times when they see Israel on my form looking for salamis so they said Things that are commerically sealed jars, cans etc Ive gotten thru even @ SYD, if you sealed it or its nota commercial product theyd probably take it away.
I know people who had their suitcases taken at TLV and burned with everything in it since they found steaks, roasts in the case

Yeah, probably at 450 degrees F/200 degrees C, for 12-15 minutes per pound, with some potatoes and some root vegetables to keep them company.

FYI, the customs form has a check box for fresh fruit and fresh food (I can't remember the exact words if it said meat or not) and they xray every single bag at customs, not just random searches! that being said, they didn't have any issue with any of the already cooked foods, like hotdogs, deli etc, and I didn't have the nerve to bring raw meat.
