I've never been to the Caribbean and want to burn my VS miles on a couple of UC tickets for my birthday in June. Trouble is, all of the VS destinations boast sun, sand and beautiful scenery but I can't see anything in the tourist guides to choose between them. Choices are:

Antigua
Barbados
Cuba
Jamaica
St Lucia
Tobago

I want stuff to do, not just sit on the beach, e.g. hiking, watersports, tours, etc. I also want somewhere safe to go to. Any advice appreciated!

I have been to Tobago and Barbados.

Tobago is small but very friendly. There is probably enough for you to do since the island is mountanous so a variety of activities. when we were there is was one of the lesser developed islands.

Barbados has plenty to keep you busy.

I personally would not go to Jamaica and go out and about on my own. There are security issues, unfortunaly. So unless you have a plan for there might want to do a lot of research first.

I would pick St Lucia out of all of those. Cuba is a good possibility if you want to go before all of us Americans are able to go there and then forever change it.

I would not go to Antigua or Jamaica. Barbados stopped in on a cruise and just went snorkeling for day, so don't have much of an opinion one way or another.

I know nothing about Tobago.

Cheers.

Most resorts in Jamaica are all inclusive and pretty inexpensive. Unless you are going on an organized tour many would recommend that you do not go out of our resort as it can be unsafe. We visited Tobago and while we had a great time there is a modest amount of crime and away from the hotels it is reported to be unsafe. There have been some scary reports of break ins at rented villas.

We have been to about 10 other islands but none on your list other than these two.
