Does anyone know a private guide or historian who can take people on a tour of the sites around Oahu (Pearl Harbor, Missouri, Bowfin, Punchbowl, and the various bases used in 1941)? I'd prefer to avoid a group tour and want someone who is very knowledgeable and can relate to parents and teenagers.

Thanks

The audio guides they give you for the Bowfin and Missouri provide a lot of information. You could easily spend a lot of time in the Missouri if you go through the whole ship and listed to every audio guide message (they have number signs where you put the numbers in the audio guide to listen about the specific item that is marked).

The only issue I see is that you will need to find someone that has access to the various military bases. Some allow you to come in as a visitors....others don't.

Plus, that changes all the time depending on whats going on in the world......

www.islandseaplane.com does a very interesting aerial island tour - you can request the actual flight path flown by Japanese torpedo bombers etc. to Pearl Harbor on your return from the North Shore, and fly over Schofield Barracks, etc.
