On Spirit.
Since I did not see any Spirit Forum, I am posting this here. I am not familiar with their FF program (if any) but thought it could be a good fare if you are willing to suffer during the trip.

Is this fare only on their site or is it on a general booking site as well? What dates?

With their fees it'll probably be at least $100 (still a good fare). Very few options available in January. This probably belongs more in "Budget Travel" than "Mileage Run Deals".

They have a FF program. Why would it belong in Budget Travel?

You're right. I suppose that's pretty good cpm. I thought they did flight credits rather than miles.

Flyertalk participants interested in Spirit Airlines often post in the Other North America & South America Frequent Flyer Programs (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/other-north-south-america-frequent-flyer-programs-472/) forum.

Maybe its gone? All I see is $69++ each way IF your a paid member of their $9 fare club. That's not including the $80 in taxes, and fuel surcharge. or optional bag fees for a total of 219.78

Lets say you booked this as a "Somebody" you get 50% earn which if spirit is miles based (Cant tell by their FF program terms on the site) ATL-STT would earn 1599 eqm, that makes the CPM 13.7.

This is why Spirit is not a MR airline.

So does Southwest and their fares should not be posted in this section either.

Yes, I follow there occasionally. Perhaps it's time for NK to get it's own spot on the boards? They're expanding quite rapidly, although I don't if they have a sufficient following on Flyertalk.

They're certainly not my preferred carrier, but they have efficiently carried me to nearly a dozen destinations (many in Latin America and the Caribbean) for one reason or another.

Why's that? If we're going to limit the MR forum to legacy carriers, then AS doesn't belong either.

They had a short sale, now gone, from ATL to FLL and a handful of Caribbean cities at $11 each way for very limited dates (usually only 6 or so in each direction). STT had the lowest tax load, but you could also vacation in the DR or go help Sean Penn in Port-au-Prince. If u were able to do the STT one (late January, I think), consider yourself lucky.

I do think Spirit deserves a separate forum, though their FF program is long on gimmicks and short on substance. If you fly on a discounted fare you get only half credit for miles flown (thank Ben Baldanza for that; he tried to do it at U.S. Airways but they had to back off). The expiration policy is very aggressive, so it's hard to accumulate miles, and award levels are no great shakes UNLESS you're also a cardholder AND can travel within the fragmentary 3 months or so when you MIGHT be able to get an off-peak award for as little as 5,000 miles (something they really, really oversell). Given that many pax on many routes are "bus crowd" and not brimming over with credit cards in this cautious age, the tilt toward cardholders can seem a bit of a cruel joke. There's also no online booking of awards, so you have to call in (like it's 1985). And there's a $15 booking fee if it's 180 days or less in advance, but they don't release seats as early as other airlines do.

There's no such thing as a MR on southwest as its $$ based. Also Alaska MR can be used to earn status on AS, DL and AA so they do belong here.

Spirit doesn't really even have a frequent flyer program. All you really need is their credit card

Well, I don't know about WN as I don't use them. But NK certainly does have a FFP apart from their credit card so I would argue they belong as well, especially as I find their network very useful.

If we're going to start moving all non-legacy fares to budget travel, I think there needs to be consistency, and that goes for B6, AS and any other non-legacy carriers.

They do, but most posters agree that it is so worthless that does not belong to MR forum.

And there is. NK fares have conwsistently been moved to Budget Forum - for reason see above.
