As seen in the DL forum...

Too many Chinese airlines with ST Imo.

Does that mean cutting frequencies and fuller flights between key routes?

Not surprising seeing as MF is majority owned by CZ, ST has a real lock on Chinese domestic travel now. This shouldn't really impact CZ or MU negatively as CZ already owns them. The problem with ST is that while they did fine in getting the Chinese airlines in, none of them are serious players when it comes to international travel. Even CZ does not have the same global impact as CA has. So unlike *A with strong international connections between their core regions (Europe, NA, East Asia), ST has a bunch of well-served regions with relatively thin connections between them.

ST has pretty coverage of China through KE and AF/KL, and good cross strait coverage with CI. Although DL is no match for the new UA. At least ST is still way ahead of OW in any case.

DL just needs to stop the ridiculous intra-China redemption rules.

ST already has some of the best connections between China and SE Asian cities, which is quite attractive to me. I just wish one of the Chinese airlines would develop a truly kick-@ss frequent flyer program that was at least useful for regional flying. I don't have any hopes that DL will amend Skypesos program back to regional redemption levels and availability offered previously by NW WP. :(

Or even a mediocre one would be fine by me. The only reason I'm with CZ is because they have the least offensive FFP between CZ/MU/CI imo.

We should do lunch near Goumao some day with the DL MD; while I'm not a DL fan, he is an amazing guy, and has our ears.

Set it up. While I've avoided DL in the past couple of years, I haven't resorted to burning my Skymiles card since there may come a time when I need to fly them, particularly if I move back to the USA.

RESIST THE TEMPTATION, LEST YOU FORGET THE EVIL THAT DL MANAGEMENT (minus the China MD) IS.
