Hi all,
I have an award flight booked with LAN using LANPASS km. Booked it a few weeks back using 18,000 of my 18,005 kms. Outbound flight is in January. I'd like to move that flight one day earlier but it looks like the current rate is 20,000 km. Since I don't have enough kms for the flight can I rebook and make up the difference by paying a small fee? I believe when booking a new award that"s an option but I'm not sure it's an option when changing an award booking. Will I be charged change fees also? Thanks! ;)

Yes you will be charged a change fee, I think it is fairly steep too, perhaps $100. I just checked the terms of my next reward trip and it didn't say what the amount is. Last time I have to change a paid itinerary though it was $100
You have to do it through a LAN office or on the phone
I would imagine they would invite you to purchase the other 2000kms for 2˘ each

Hi!
Here is the page about Award Charges and Fees (http://www.lan.com/en_us/sitio_personas/lanpass/acerca_de_lanpass/cobros_cargos_lanpass.html)... It says that there's no fee if you can make the change online on lan.com
Strangely, the same page in Spanish (http://www.lan.com/es_pe/sitio_personas/lanpass/acerca_de_lanpass/cobros_cargos_lanpass.html) also mentions something about a reissue fee...

Thanks! I tried it but it doesn't work, presumably because the route now requires more kms than before. Grrr. LAN just had to increase the cost from 9,000 kms per leg to 10,000 kms per leg. It's not clear if it would even work if I bought the 2,000 extra kms.

Is there actually anywhere on LAN.com where one can change an award itinerary?

The page I linked to directs you here:

I'm guessing that it only works with date changes without extra kms or $.

That's cool thanks, I think as a pinochet silverware I can change my next trip gratis. I am thinking of going to LIM for la noche de las velitas to avoid some rubbish parties in Bogotá, that means that we can move the beers forwards, you will be able to come and perhaps Bingo will be there too. Whaddaya reckon?

Yes, that's one of the benefits of "Pinochet Silver"...
So when exactly were we talking about?

Depending on the availability of flights, we could do the Saturday before. That would be the 10th right?

I thought you said moving the beers forwards (to, say, 2012), not backwards! I'll still be here in Madrid on the 10th.
Best if we move this to the other thread.

You are right, if there are no awards for the same number of kms it shows as no availability
