I just received an email from Amtrak offering "30% Points Bonus on Every Purchase"

I have never purchased points…….How much does Amtrak charge per point? Is a 30% bonus a good deal?

Thanks for the advice.

1,000 points cost $27.50:

With the bonus, that's about 2.1 cents/point, which can be a good deal, depending on what you redeem them for.

With 3,000 points you can buy a ticket on a NE Corridor train, effectively costing you $63. That can be a good value, since the actual cost is frequently much higher.

I think it is better to transferr 15K from my Airline Miles Vs Purchasing since Airline Miles are calculated for redemption at $0.01 per mile or $150 for the 15K.

Thanks :)

Because, of course, some might value them differently.
