Hilton HHonors - Question about booking different two different rates across one stay.

Topic should read:
"Question about booking two different rates across one stay. "

I'm planning to make a reservation from Sunday to Wednesday, and I noticed that the rate from Sunday to Monday is a lot cheaper than Monday onwards. If I try and book online it will only let me select the more expensive rate for the entire duration.

Is it possible to make two separate reservations? Would I call the hotel or Hilton reservations to "glue" them together?

I just don't want to end up moving rooms mid-stay.

Thanks

Weekday rates are typically higher than weekend rates. I've run into this before and have done exactly what you've done (booking two separate stays back-to-back). I didn't do anything in advance to try to guarantee I wouldn't have to change rooms. The rate difference was significant enough I figured I'd just chance it, and wouldn't really care if I had to switch. When I checked in the first time I was upgraded to their largest suite there. Once the bill was slid under my door for the end of my first stay, I called down to the front desk and mentioned that I would be staying there longer on a separate reservation I had just recently booked and was wondering if I could just stay in the same room. The said no problem, and I got to stay in the same room for the rest of the stay.

Go ahead and book as many separate reservations as is required to yield the lowest rates during your stay. Personally, I wouldn't bother calling ahead of time; just let the hotel take care of it when you check in. Although its probably not impossible, it would be relatively unlikely that you would be asked to change rooms under these circumstances.

Yes, it is absolutely possible, and no, it is extremely unlikely that you will end up changing rooms mid-stay.

At check-in, advise the front desk clerk that you have two separate reservations and ask him/her to link them in their computer.

One thing to be aware of though: if they don't do it right, there is a chance you'll be billed as a no-show for your second reservation (happened to me once), but a quick call to their billing department should fix it afterwards if it happens.

Done it before in Montreal, booked Friday to Sunday on a cheap rate then went to the front desk on the Sunday morning and told them I'd like to stay an extra night. Got the same cheap rate which wasn't available when I originally booked and was left in a suite http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I've set up multiple reservations on several occasions in order to get the best rates (particularly around holidays and other busy times).

However, as Eugene mentioned, be sure to have them "linked" together by the front desk at check in -- otherwise you will likely cause confusion for the hotel and increase the likelihood of problems (this is because hotels pre-assign rooms, so you will likely be in someone else's pre-assigned room if you try to stay longer).

I have been moved during a stay to lower floors, less spacious suites, etc. when paying lower rates on different days (although this happens much less as a diamond).

Sometimes it is worth the extra hassle to save money, and other times it is not.
