Hilton HHonors - Trying to combine package stay with award

Here was a "yikes" situation... I have an award stay booked for 6 nights at ES in Lake Buena Vista for next March. I just got an email for their Shop & Stay package, 127/nt for 2 nights, 139 each additional night. We were planning to stay 4 nights at the Doubletree in Downtown Disney for the 4 nights prior to our ES stay, but fugured why not just stay in one spot, easier than moving the kids around.

Checked online and found the rate was only available for the last 3 of the 4 nights, but figured I'd just pay a AAA rate for the first night.

Call the property explain I want to add 4 nights prior to my award stay with the package. Reservation clerk tells me she can book me the first 2 nights for the package (silent "huh?" to myself) and then I'd have to pay regular rate the next 2. I explain the e-mail indicated 139 for each additional night and she then tells me she's not really familiar with thr package and I should call to speak with the supervisor tomorrow.

OK, so that was a little scary, seeing as this package is only for their property. What do you all think would be my best course- speak to the supervisor, book 2 additional reservations on my own online (1 night AAA, 3 nights package) or try central reservations?

First and foremost, this does not qualify as "yikes", not by a long shot. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

And second, here's my advice: unless it's extremely urgent (and, apparently, it's not the case as your stay is about four months from now), always call during the regular working hours, when supervisors are on duty. Weekend staff is often clueless when it comes to special deals. And if the offer came from the property, I'd call the property direct, at the number listed in the promotional flyer. Call again Monday, speak with the supervisor, I'm pretty sure you'll get what you're looking for. You may even try to talk him/her into letting you stay all four nights at the package price. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

OK Eugene, it was only a little yike http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. And thanks, the person I spoke to advised speaking to her supervisor who would be on property tomorrow (it was the property I called, if I didn't make that clear), but I may wait until Monday. I guess I just had this wild idea that the reservation staff on property would be trained on a package that was sent out in the weekly ES e-mail. That's part of my innocent charm http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
