Ok, I cheated. I was comp'ed to Diamond as a result of my SPG status and history. I've known this was possible for a long time but didn't want to waste it until I was actually going to stay at a Hilton for a while. Well, that stay has come and gone. After a quick call to the Diamond desk and a subsequently faxed letter (with accompanying evidence), I was notified by email of my new status and promptly moved to the HHonors floor, free water and all! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
I've done a search of the forum and have found tons of information but nothing that gave me that 'Ah-ha' feeling about what having Diamond is about. Could someone more experienced in the HHways give me a quick pointer?
If things transpire appropriately, I'll be spending significant time in the NJ/NY/CT areas over the next one to two years. I'm intending to maintain my SPG Platinum but should be able to also ensure the required stays at Hilton to make it worth their comp'ing me, if the service is worth it.
