I don't think it breaks neatly by borough lines.

For example, and obviously, NW Queens => LGA. SW Queens =>JFK.

It also depends on what ground transportation you'd consider, and possibly also day of week and time of day...

Also some people prefer one airport over the other. I lived in Prospect Heights Brooklyn which has decently easy access to JFK by LIRR, ok by Subway and depending on traffic an easy ride to JFK but I avoid JFK unless the savings or schedule is just too perfect. I prefer EWR out of the 3 NYC airports. LGA I avoid even now living in the East Village off the R train.

Hello from Brooklyn. :)

That's a very difficult question to answer since the borough is so big. If you live in Starrett City, for example, JFK is ten minutes away. In Astoria, you can be ten minutes from LGA but if you are flying trans-Atlantic, or trans-Pacific, you'll need to go to JFK or EWR.

Please give a specific neighborhood, intersection or address.

For the rest of the city, again, it always depends on where you are and where you want to go. If you live in Bulls Head, EWR is 15 minutes away but from City Island, two hours.

Relevant factors: where in each borough, how are you getting there (private car with parking, taxi/car service, mass transit), to where and when are you flying, what airline loyalty program(s) do you favor...

Depends on transportation and time of day/traffic.
South Brooklyn is easiest to JFK airport as it can take 20 minutes but with traffic it can be brutal and much longer.

You can live on the Queens/Nassau border and have more difficulty getting to an airport in Queens (LGA) vs. someone coming from the Bronx because of morning rush hour traffic patterns. However, in the evening it reverses so same origin in Queens may take you 15 minutes.

I lived in North Brooklyn and it would take me 13 minutes to LGA or 17 minutes to JFK (because of the distance of the terminal from highway).

In NYC your best choice is the cheapest flight and scheduling. If it takes 2 hrs to get to EWR but you can a direct flight vs. flying from LGA but must connect via ORD - it is a no brainer to me. But, if airfare from EWR is $853 but LGA is there a question? Enjoy the choices/options or mix-match take off from one and land at another.

Exclude above here is a summary response -
Bronx is easiest to LGA but more difficult to JFK (due to traffic).
Staten Island is difficult to LGA and/or JFK but JFK is easier option of the two - you are probably better going to EWR.
In general Manhattan closer to LGA and/or EWR but easier public transportation to JFK and/or EWR from midtown or downtown.
Brooklyn/Queens depends on location but easy highway routes to either LGA or JFK.

What about from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn?

What about from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn?Bay Ridge is about as centrally located from all three major New York area airports as you can get.

The Belt Parkway to John F. Kennedy International Airport would work — but, of course, that depends on traffic patterns.

However, Newark Airport is a viable option if you do not mind paying a toll across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, especially when there is no traffic.

On those rare occasions where there is no traffic on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, then LaGuardia Airport is an option, even though it is technically the farthest away from Bay Ridge.

Can you please give more information as to what day and time you intend to depart from Bay Ridge?

Thank you.

One other factor is taxis to/from JFK are fixed price, LGA is on the meter, and EWR is expensive taxi-wise.

One other factor is taxis to/from JFK are fixed price....Nope. The meter runs between JFK and all boroughs except Manhattan. Don't count on a fixed fare between JFK and City Island for example.

What about from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn?

How are you getting to/from the airport?

If by car or taxi, like Canarsie said, all three airports are more or less equidistant so I'd choose based on flight schedules and fares. If schedules and fares are truly equal, then it depends on the time of day and traffic patterns.

Public transit is going to be a long haul to any airport from Bay Ridge. JFK is probably most reliably quick (R train to A train to AirTrain) because you don't have to go through Manhattan (about 90 minutes total). LGA takes a little longer, but can be done with the fewest transfers (R train to Q33, although switching from the R to the N and M60 will save some time). EWR requires transferring to a non-MTA form of transit in Manhattan and can also be done in just over 90 minutes if you make the transfers smoothly. Easiest is probably taking the R/N to 42nd and taking the airport express bus from Bryant Park direct to EWR.

It seem like when you said South Brooklyn above what you really meant is southern Brooklyn since South Brooklyn is a neighborhood paradoxically in the northern part of the borough. :)

What about from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn?

As pointed out, depends on a few factors like traffic, construction on the Gowanus and BQE, etc.

However, Newark Airport is a viable option if you do not mind paying a toll across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, especially when there is no traffic.

Don't forget the toll coming back on the Goethals as well as the possibility of a toll on the Turnpike.

I love this quote:

A burro is an a s s. A burrow is a hole in the ground. As a journalist you are expected to know the difference. (United Press International Stylebook (http://idiacomputing.com/moin/FortuneCookies), By Bobby Ray Miller 1977, p. 29)

Don't forget the toll coming back on the Goethals as well as the possibility of a toll on the Turnpike. You are correct.

I concentrated solely on the outbound based on the original message:For each borough what airport would you reccomened is the best to fly out of ? Especially for BrooklynBy the way, when I used to commute between Canarsie and Newark Airport, I bypassed the New Jersey Turnpike to avoid the toll and the annoying lines to pay the toll and used Route 1 instead.

Come to think of it, I have no idea if Nagme999 is based in Brooklyn or just visiting, but additional information would certainly be helpful...
