Hilton HHonors - Good Upgrades for this Diamond Member

I've been reading about the numerous members who have had bad luck with upgrades at the Hilton properties they have stayed at. Let me tell you of my experiences.

I've stayed at Hilton 99.9% of the time and I will say I have been either upgraded to the Excecutive floor or suites each time. The best upgrades I've had were at the Hilton in San Bernardino, CA; Los Angeles Doubletree on Wilshire (9 out of 10 stays have been upgraded to the suite).

I always get the lowest rate on the web site. Be it a government rate or AAA, it is always well below the Executive Level cost. I always have been given breakfast vouchers if there was no lounge, even when I was on an award stay (Doubletree Suites, Times Square & Hilton, Harrisburg, PA).

Maybe I've been really lucky but I sure like the perks that I've recieved. I will stay with Hilton unless there is something that goes totally the other direction very soon.

Hopefully, some of my luck can rub off on some of you who haven't had the best of luck.

I agree -- since making Diamond, I have had great success with upgrades.

1. Embassy Suites NYC -- Always get a corner room which is huge in comparison to the regular room.

2. Last week, I had 4 rooms reserved at the Hilton WDW. All 4 rooms were upgraded to the 9th floor and all included access to the longue. (Of course, only got credit for 2 rooms, but the longue access for all 4 rooms was worth it).

Agreed. Words like "stellar" and "exceptional" don't even begin to cover my satisfaction with and appreciation for the HHonors program and the Diamond services. I wish other loyalty marketing programs in the travel industry would learn from it as a model.

I've gotten good upgrades, free breakfasts, a bit of recognition and access to sold out locations. I feel like I've got a buddy working in the company looking after goodies for me. They have gotten 30+ stays a year from me and others turned on to their program. It is a great two-way deal. Thank you Hilton and FT coaches!!

I forgot about this issue. Just last week I tried to get into an ES which was sold out on the net. Called Diamond service, got a room for two days and when I got to the hotel, I asked for a better rate and they gave it to me. I would not have been able to stay in this property if it wasn't for my Diamond status!!

This is what I call service with a smile.
