I've been reading about the numerous members who have had bad luck with upgrades at the Hilton properties they have stayed at. Let me tell you of my experiences.
I've stayed at Hilton 99.9% of the time and I will say I have been either upgraded to the Excecutive floor or suites each time. The best upgrades I've had were at the Hilton in San Bernardino, CA; Los Angeles Doubletree on Wilshire (9 out of 10 stays have been upgraded to the suite).
I always get the lowest rate on the web site. Be it a government rate or AAA, it is always well below the Executive Level cost. I always have been given breakfast vouchers if there was no lounge, even when I was on an award stay (Doubletree Suites, Times Square & Hilton, Harrisburg, PA).
Maybe I've been really lucky but I sure like the perks that I've recieved. I will stay with Hilton unless there is something that goes totally the other direction very soon.
Hopefully, some of my luck can rub off on some of you who haven't had the best of luck.
