Hilton HHonors - $4 bottles of water

Maybe I just noticed it, but last night in Tampa at the airport Hilton there were no standard size bottles of water in the room. Rather, there were only two larger bottles of Evian with $4 price tags attached.
I saw the same expensive bottle of Evian in Kansas City at the airport Hilton the night before, but they also gave me the two standard-size water bottles too.
I usually get two free standard-size bottles of water at most properties, but maybe that is just an HHonors "bonus" (yipee).
In any case, I hope that the overpriced water is not a trend!

Agreed that's a ripoff.
The highest I've seen is $7. This at the W Seattle.

I've seen both: Perhaps the small bottle is a 'free sample' of delicious water http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif to entice you to buy the overpriced bottle.

Virtually every hotel I've been to within the past year has had these bottles of water...
Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Miami Beach charged 6.79 for a bottle of Evian ( 1l )
Not to mention some ridiculous taxes, restocking fees etc. of 30+ % !!

DUS Hilton had at DM 12.50 (~$ 6.50)(Faichinger) last year. A ripper!
At a Hilton in ATL there was no minibar, no bottled water. No room service by midnight (got in on the last flight). Zilch! Had to go into the heavy rain, searching a drugstore to buy a bottle of water. Never will be back at that hotel.
Yet, several non-Hilton hotels I stayed at in Asia acutally provide bottled drinking water (generally local brand) free of charge. A nice treat I am still missing in many U.S. hotels.

I dont know what rare exotic water is in the "blue bottles" but I have seen $6 price tags on some of them. I am afraid if I pick one it, it will drop and I will be out some big money. No bottled water is worth $6.

Did they also charge you the 18% room service charge and a delivery fee and mandatory gratuity (that the delivery person swears they don't get as they wait for you to give them a tip)!
