I'd call Hilton and explain what happened. I'd ask if the certificates issued could be voided.

I would do the same.
But I also would change the password.

Actually, they had the username and password, so they didn't take them illegally, they took them without your permission.

YOu probably have no recourse at all with Hilton at all, as they had your username and password.

Uhh..what?? Taking something without someone's permission is to take it illegally. The fact that the person had the username and password is not relevant

I dont see why you wouldnt have just cancelled the award as soon as you found out and changed the password or even asked hilton to change your number.
When the person goes to use the coupon they will be told that the coupon is not valid and have to pay for their stay-as you know every person checking in has to give a credit card-then the user will contact the selled and raise hell.

As long as the certificates have not been redeemed, you can call Hilton Honors at anytime and have them cancelled/voided. Once the certificates have been redeemed at a hotel, you're out of luck.

Obviously you have checked your account under awards.
I just checked mine and awards dating back 18 months have detailed award numbers. Otherwise call HHonors and ask them to cancell all awards-just incase they havent been used.
I am sure that Hilton could also check who used the awards and their credit card number etc-and would maybe be able to debit the credit card as the points were illegally taken.
I know that is a lot of work but I would sure do it if they were my points.

I just discovered that the person took the points from reading a post on FT. The certificates were drafted so long ago it doesn't show up on my activity report and I have purged my own files.
