Hilton HHonors - Award stays - which room category ?

I have a question to all the Hhonors experts out there. I´m planning to use my points to book an award stay in Paris or Rome and I assume that they will me standard room.

I´m a Gold: Can I expect an upgrade to the executive floor or lounge access ???

Any experiences ???

When using awards you should receive the same level of upgrades that you get when paying for the room.

Note that you normally cannot get a confirmation of a nicer room, but can definitely make the request for exactly what you want (tell the reservationist to put any special request in the record). However, you normally never know till you show up how good of a room you will end up with.

I will note mostly positive experiences when using rewards, they will usually try to meet your requests.
