Is it possible to get any pay as you go SIM Card for a tourist heading to NYC for a short get away?

T-Mobile offers very reasonably priced prepaid GSM service in the US and I'd think you'd be able to pick up a SIM card in most T-Mobile stores (I'd stick to the actual T-Mobile stores and not third party dealers that might be more interested in selling you a phone). Just make sure you have a quad-band unlocked phone because the US uses different GSM frequencies than most of the rest of the world.

I wouldn't even bother with a SIM card. A disposable phone and 200 minutes airtime can be had for about 60 bucks at the Kmart at Penn Station and other retailers.

Either T-Mobile or AT&T, with AT&T if your phone is unlocked you can have a sim card for 10$ and add 20$ of data package for 200MB...
