I went to apply for the AirTran Visa today and could not find an application page. All pages lead me to a Barclays link that stated this offer was no longer available? I guess I waited too long? Does anyone have any info on this or a current link for app?

I got a notice in the mail last week telling me that I would be automatically renewed for $49 on November 30. The letter also listed out all of the benefits of the card (things that we all know are being phased out). I'll be calling tomorrow to tell them "no thanks".

Epilogue:
Just got off the phone with Barclay's Bank (more specifically, a call center rep somewhere on the other side of the planet). I asked them if I could downgrade to the no-fee AirTran Visa. I was placed on hold for a couple minutes. CSR returned and said that downgrading was not available for this account (which I expected). .....awkward silence..... "So what are my options?" I asked. She said that the $39 fee would be posting on November 30th. I asked if that was my only option. .....more awkward silence..... "I could always cancel my account, right?" I told her that I was surprised that canceling was not presented as an option. I then asked that my account be closed effective November 30. "We cannot do that. You will need to call us back." she responded. I told her to close the account immediately then. She then went on about all of the benefits of the AirTran Visa including two $50 certificates, blah blah blah. I stopped her and told her that those were useless to me since AirTran will be transitioning to Southwest during the coming year. She stated that she was sorry that I was closing the account over the $39 fee. I countered that the fee was not driving me away as I have gladly payed it for a number of years. Rather, Southwest's takeover of AirTran was driving me away. She thanked me for being an AirTran Visa customer and hung up.

I realize that these call centers are being staffed with minimally compensated third-world employees. Still, it burns me up that 1) the English language is lost on many of these folks; and 2) they have not been versed on how to properly address the discontinuation of the AirTran Visa.

Looks like the beginning of the end of the Barclays Airtran card. Not included in their list of credit card products anymore.

I expect that in a few weeks or months, Barclays will be contacting the people who are holding an Airtran Visa with some offer to transition to another Barclays credit card.

Maybe the Priceline Visa or Travelocity AMEX wouldn't be so bad...

Yep. I don't have much trouble with Barclays, so I'm kinda waiting to see if they give me a good transition offer.
Airtran was great while it lasted; but the sale to Southwest ended that. I pay a fee for my Airtran card, and the card is now almost worthless to me. I now spend almost nothing on that card each year. Don't intend to hold fee based credit cards in my sock drawer forever; so it would make good sense for Barclays to try to get me to transition into a card that I might actually use.:)

We'll see what they offer. I never minded the annual fee of $39...it was worth it considering the two $50 discount coupon codes that comes with it each year.

It was great while it lasted. You actually were $61.00 to the good after using the two annual $50.00 discount coupons.

Good detective work. The business card offer is no longer valid, however.
