Frontier Airlines EarlyReturns - F9 Advanced Seating Assignment Changes

I tried looking for this on other threads and didn't see anything relevant. Does anyone know what the guidelines are for F9 as they relate to forcing changes to seat assignments that have been locked in as advanced seats during the ticketing process? I've had several istances now where I've had aisle/window exit row or stretch seats booked during ticketing(all airbus flights) and at check in, seats were changed to any number of other rows and positions outside of exit row and stretch. The party line I hear is equipment changes cause seat change assignments. I only fly routes on F9 with airbus models(318/319/320) have the same number of extra leg room exit row seats(6...usually row 10 for me) and stretch(24 seats). I love middle seats as much as the next person, particularly after having booked much more agreeable seat locations.

1. Does an equipment change really force them to move my seat location, particullary if I have an exit row or stretch seat or are they bumping me out to give preference to someone else?
2. Is there a method to madness as far as seat change reallocation?

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to FT, rockym.

Two recent changes might have contributed to your predicament.

Firstly, the exit row is now uniformly numbered as row 12 on all Airbus and E190 aircraft. Secondly, F9 recently started charging a fee for exit row seating, classifying the row the same as STRETCH.

STRETCH and exit row may be booked at no charge by Summit members, but Ascent members only will have free access at time of check-in or at gate.

You can refer to previous thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frontier-airlines-earlyreturns/1105424-stretch-seats-5.html, starting with post #69 for further info.

Updated seat maps can be viewed at http://www.frontierairlines.com/frontier/who-we-are/company-info/A319.do. As you will notice, some aircraft no longer even have a row 10, due to the renumbering of exit row.

Thanks for the info mke9499.

So much for the backdoor Ascent exit row "stretch" seating assignments. I'll be summit next week, so won't impact me, but I'm sure this change ticked off some current ascent tier peeps.

So is the leg room of row 12 now on par with stretch rows 1-4 or does it still have more room than normal stretch?

Yeah, mark me as one of the ticked-off Ascents.

I checked a previous reservation and my seat still shows 12F, hoping that they won't do some kind of sweep to kick already-reserved Ascents out of the new "StrEtchxit" seats.
