AirTran Airways A+ Rewards - AirTran leaving Amex MR March 1, 2012

This morning I got an Amex statement with the text:

"As of March 1, 2012, AirTran Airways will exit the Membership Rewards program. Any Membership Rewards point redemptions for AirTran A+ Rewards credits must be made by February 29, 2012. These redemptions will be final and subject to the A+ Rewards program terms and conditions."

I'm going to miss A+ Rewards. The availability was sometimes spotty, but for those with a flexible schedule, round trips to Cancun for 16 credits were a great deal.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Based on this news, I predict that AirTran points will become transferable to RR on March 1, or at least that an announcement of the program integration will occur shortly after March 1.

Just in time to celebrate the one-year anniversary of RR 2.0.

im really hopin that prior to 2/29/12 Southwest/AirTran makes some sort of announcement regarding how A+ credits will merge into RR 2.0. I have a few hundred thousand MR points and I would consider moving some if I had some indication on what I would be receiving in terms of RR 2.0 points.
