whats the best program to use points for interisland travel?

Not sure if this is listed somewhere else right now...

but it seems to be that Virgin Atlantics 6k points roundtrip seems to be the best way to travel interisland on Hawaiian..

Any other better cheaper options?

Any drawbacks from using Virgin Atlantic?

I know CO/UA are charging 10k roundtrip...

Great question... Especially for us with Amex MR looking to spend them on interisland travel.

Another thing to take into account are the fees. I don't know the type of fees Virgin has, since you can only book over the phone. I know several airlines charge for booking over the phone (eg United).

Except that it actually takes 12.5 - 15k in my experience

There's already a recent discussion of this in the Hawaii forum.
