I have an upcoming XX-ATL-XX flight and want to maximize my time in Atlanta. Is it possible to standby for a morning flight, spend the day in ATL, and then continue on my journey with the original scheduled evening flight?
Is there a maximum layover (>4 hours) before it is considered a stopover like other airlines?
Would it matter if I checked a bag too?
Would help to know what cities "XX" are as perhaps you could book a flight that gets into ATL too late to go onto the final destination (if you'd be OK with an overnight).

Hi dknn,
You should be able to spend the day in ATL (if you succeed in standing by).
Last year I had an evening HPN-ATL-FLL ticket booked; I showed up that morning and cleared the standby list for the HPN-ATL flight (with baggage). I would have been stuck in ATL all day if I hadn't managed to successfully standby on an earlier flight to FLL (12 people were vying for 1 seat; I got it thanks to being A+ Elite).
IIRC, the >4 hour rule is for ticketing, not traveling standby...
Good luck!
