I'll be leaving LAX on the 1st night of chanukah before sunset, but have a 3 hour mid-day layover at LHR T5. Any ideas on someplace to light a chanukiah? (The BA lounge, perhaps?) Or is there an outdoor smoking area?

Sorry I forgot what he was told about making a Bracha. joshwex90 Nov 9, 11, 6:13 am why not on your flight? take along a flashlight that uses a fluorescent blub (= gas) I remember many yrs ago a friend flying out of TLV running into the same problem and the masigach told him simply to switch on the flashlight for the min amount of time a candle would need to burn. While minhagim vary, the way I understand it, the best idea is to have someone at home have you in mind when lighting, and then to use a flashlight without a bracha. pinkcat Nov 9, 11, 4:31 pm if you exit the airport via baggage claim and customs, there is an "oustide" area its quite a large area so you should be able to find somewhere away from the smokers to light the candles. the you can just go back to departures in the lift. There is a multi faith prayer room landside in Zone A which might be of use as well |
