Hi All,

I am planning a Y family trip in early Feb 2012, and am wondering whether to
book MH or SQ to Phuket.

These are questions I am weighing up...

1. Will the DJ/ SQ alliance be in place by FEB with regards to status earn?

2. Is there an imminent divorce planned between DJ and MH?

3. When will family status credit pooling be introduced?

Call centre staff were of no help with regard to the above. If you had to hedge your bets for either, which would you choose?

Eagerly anticipating your enthusiastic responses,

MrMNJ.

I've got MH flights booked for July and my guess is that Virgin may not have any agreement with them by then (but you never know I guess)

Personally I would go Singapore....at least its going to be a current partner plus the product is way better than MH (which in Y, though the seat width is ok, the food and IFE is terrible)

According to Virgin rep's I have spoken to, there will be more clarity and more changes coming in Jan/Feb..which can only be a good thing for everyone.

MH joins one world next April so no more Velocity points on them:(but SQ is going to be member anytime soon.Bonus for me I no longer have to use my Thai Royal Orchid Plus Membership on Singapore Airlines anymore to earn points except for maybe Europe Trips where a Star Alliance Partner takes me into and out of cities not served by SQ.
