It seems DSK has spent a few nights at the Carlton Hotel, so i guess it should be a nice place...;) GetSetJetSet Nov 4, 11, 9:04 pm I think that this question is more suitable for the FT France Forum. Obscure2k Moderator Luxury Hotels Why exactly? I'm looking for a luxury hotel in Lille. How does that not belong in the luxury hotel forum? Do avoid the Barriere (crappy neighborhood) and the most suited hotel would be, and its still quite far from this forum standarts, le couvent des minimes (my father has been there twice on business and told me that it was, despite its traditionnal and historic feel, really suited for travelers on business). Lille is a beautiful city and people living in the north of France are among the friendliest ! slawecki Nov 5, 11, 1:20 pm my wife and i stayed at the carelton a number of times. still the same blue interior on the rooms. it was the most expensive hotel we used. Carlton bathroom and tub (no shower)were bigger than most of the rooms in europe. the restaurants were excellent, but expensive, as the belgians would come down to eat in france. room was ff equivalent of $32 us. would have been around 1975. we preferred to stay a bit out of lille in one of the chateaux. rooms were magnificient as were the chateaux, but not much heat. |
