Has anyone stayed here? I would be interested in hearing about location, rooms, Gold benefits, and anything else you have to say about this hotel. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. djefvert Sep 29, 02, 2:33 pm Derf, I havent stayed there as I normally stay at the Embassy Suites Old Market. As for location, the Hilton Garden Inn isnt too bad. Its about 4 blocks from the Old Market area where there is a ton of bars and great restaurants (recommend the French Cafe!) The hotel has been built in the past year or so. Close to the freeway if you have to go somewhere outside of downtown. However, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Embassy Suites. Dont get an upgraded room there since they are all the same, but do get a comp breakfast and water/candy when I stay there as a gold. Breakfast is of course included with all Embassy rooms, made to order. You can of course also get HH honors points. SoldIt Sep 30, 02, 5:51 am Have stayed at the Omaha HGI 3 or 4 times... it is less than a year old and real fresh and new. Was always there as Gold and was never upgraded. Got Hot buffet for breakfast. It is only a few blocks from the old market. If I stay Downtown I stay at HGI or the Doubletree up the street. (Hot breakfast and have been upgraded to a nice suite 2 of 4 as Gold) Looking forward to staying there again now that I have Diamond. My budget does not allow for ES but that looks like the best property of the three..... Hope that helps hayesa Sep 30, 02, 5:29 pm Derf -- I stay there Sunday--Thursday every week for the past few months. Location is fine, most (not all) of the staff is cordial. The beds are the best part - very very comfortable. Good breakfast, don't forget to try the hash browns. Very small workout room - two treadmills, one bike, one elliptical trainer - no weights. Nick & Tony's is the new restaurant in the lower level which is where room service is from. Excellent dishes there too. I am Gold so 9/10 times I get the room with a couch instead of just a chair/ottoman combo. That's my story. I am staying at the Doubletree next week for a change of scenery. Can't get into ES for a cheap enough rate. Enjoy! See you ther. SECKART Oct 1, 02, 2:36 pm My job has taken me to Omaha 4 times in the last 3 months. The Hilton Garden Inn is the newest property to open, and so the rooms are very nice and clean. They told me the only upgrade was to a king bed with desk as opposed to 2 doubles-so that is what I got both times I stayed there. 2 bottles of water and free hot breakfast in the am (9.00 value I think) each day. Hot cookies in the afternoon. As a FYI-I just got back from a stay at the Doubletree at 16th and Dodge (HGI is at 10th and Dodge), upgraded to a suite with jacuzzi tub and wetbar-very impressive. Rooms are older, but well maintained in my opinion. Offered free breakfast in the am or free drink coupons in the pm (2 cocktails per night)-both are about a 10.00 value as well as 2 bottles of water and a cookie. Better workout facility and bigger pool at Doubletree, better restaurant at HGI. $6.00 parking at Doubletree, $8.00 at HGI. As is mentioned by others, the Embassy Suites looks wonderful, but work won't pay that much for the rooms. Make sure to check out the Old Market area while you are there, many good restaurants including Omaha Prime-the best steakhouse in the midwest in my opinion. (although it is pricey-best done on a per diem) Derf Oct 11, 02, 9:16 pm Thank you for all of the input. I Completed a one-night stay for my 4th CNTU stay here last week (netted me almost 22,000 points and 1,500 AA Miles). A wonderful hotel for $71 a night. The beds are wonderful. Received two breakfast coupons and two waters as Gold upon check-in which we took advantage of. The breakfast was delicious and included waffles and omlettes made to order. However, the best part was the room. I was upgraded to a Jacuzzi suite as Gold. The two-room suite was wonderful and included two TVs. Location was great as well. Very close to Old Market and everything else in Omaha. Take advantage of free parking on the street during the holidays and weekends to avoid the $8 charge to park in the parking garage. |
