Hong Kong and Macau - Family Accommodation in HKG
I hope someone here can help.
I am looking for a good 4-5 star hotel in HKG, either HK Island or Kowloon that could accommodate 2 adults and 2 children in, preferably, one room.
Many websites seem to struggle with this concept and it may be that I have to book 2 rooms separately, but this is not very cost-effective. Have tried many UK based websites and lastminute.com.hk but nothing much coming up.
At the moment there is a hotel in Causeway bay called the Cosmopolitan, that seems very cheap at about 8,000HKD for 5 nights. At the other end of the spectrum I have a suite in the W for about 30,000HKD which seems a bit steep but looks lovely.
All suggestions welcome :)

Not sure how old are your kids. But my family (2 Adults & one 6yr old) is making a trip end Nov and I just got us a room thru Skyauction.com to Regal Hong Kong. I end up paying US$290 (incl taxes & fees) for 3 nites. Regal Hong Kong is on the HK Island side... super close to the Causeway Bay MTR. I looked at the reviews for the hotel and they seem fine.
You may want to check it out.

We took a suite at the Excelsior when we were in HK with the kids a few years ago. Good hotel, good area, great staff.
There was a sofabed in the lounge and a decent size bedroom out the back.
The other place that I seem to recall looking at were the Renaissance hotels. I think the one in Kowloon has now closed, but there's still one next to the Hyatt on the Island. Not the most accessible location, however.

A note on the Cosmopolitan... it is not actually really close to very much and it's a bit of a walk (at least 10 minutes if you walk fast) to Times Square and Causeway Bay MTR. They run shuttles to Times Square but I would stay somewhere closer to places you want to go. (unless you're going for the racecourse which I doubt) I can't actually recommend anything because fitting more than 2 people into a hotel room has never been a consideration for me when booking a hotel.

i have used suites at the crowne plaza causeway bay for my family of 4 though the two kids are 1 and 2.5. they are actually on the end of the building with windows three sides, formatted as two rooms divided by a nice bathroom. one room is a bedroom, the other a living room, though they have happily put cots and cribs in there. both rooms get large tv's dvd player etc with decent soundproofing, so i could get the kids asleep but still be noisy in the other room. i can't recall exact cost . . .it wasn't cheap but i thought pretty good value and generally have been able to use family and friends rates. suites came with breakfast and access to club lounge which was also useful.

Same reply as in another post.
We stayed in Royal Plaza in Mongkok, each to their own but I prefer Kowloon side these days for the real "HK experience". They have family rooms and can be got for a very good price. Very near the night markets and the MTR from where you can get everywhere really quickly. Our girls loved staying here, it's quite smart.
You might check out the Salisbury YMCA. More of a 3* but don't let the term YMCA worry you, it is a nice hotel on the upper floors in a great location. Out the front door and accross the street is the waterfront, HK Space Museum and the Star Ferry. Out the back door is the MTR.

I can +1 on that, while we didn't end up staying there its in a great spot and is one of the few places with family rooms.
