Hello All!
Recently, I was booking two coach award tickets to San Jose, Costa Rica. The going award is 70,000 miles. However, when they actually made the reservation, the total came to 50,000 miles. This is fabulous, as a domestic RT booked on supersaver is 25,000. This special is only occurring during low season between Sept and Dec 1999. One can also fly coach for 25,000 from the US to anywhere in Central America, Mexico or even Rio De Janeiro! The flight is a nightmare though if you live on the West Coast, as you have to fly first to Newark. However, if you live in Newark, it could be well worth your miles(Catman?).
Oh, by the way, the airline for this is Continental. There are not many seats left at this fabulous redemption value, so I would suggest if you are interested, get on it now!

Ricechex -

The offer that you listed sounded to good to be true, so I called the One-Pass service center at Continental.

According to the rep. that I spoke with, you are right, this promotion did exist, but it happened to end the day that you posted it, on 6/30/99. I asked when it started, and she told me the promotion began in April. I wonder why none of us knew about it.

No mail or web posting of this"former" special? Wonder if this is very common.

Thanks all! I really appreciate your warm welcome backs!
Steve, yes it does sound to good be true, and I was astounded. However, it is not a promotion. I was having a very difficult time deciding where to go on such a redemption (would it be Rio? Costa Rica? Honduras? the decisions were complex!) and when I called back the reservationist quoted me the higher mileage fare. I asked her to check into the available flights anyway.
She went ahead and we were able to come up with some available dates. When she actually made the reservation, the award came out to show the 25,000 miles, not the mileage advertised in the written literature. So, if you are really interested, go ahead, and ask them to make the reservations, and see what is the actual mileage award.
As far as I can tell, this is not advertised, as I have not seen it on the website or in the newsletter.
Peter, I do not know of any links. You might want to call directly to the One Pass International Rewards Desk.
Thanks All!
Beth
