Hilton HHonors - Award Stay - No Bonus Points for Misc Charges

I just received a reply from HHonors regarding my query on the missing 25% bonus points (Gold member) for a recent stay.

It says that since the stay was using points redemption, only base points would be awarded for the misc charges (meals etc).

As a SPG Gold member, I have been getting 50% bonus points from SPG for meals charged to the room even on award stays. Looks like HHonors is not very generous in this respect.

Unlike SPG, HHonors award stays count towards elite status if you have any charges to the room (and sometimes even if you don't). I'd argue that SPG is not as generous as HHonors ...

I agree absolutely with you that "SPG is not as generous as HHonors...." in most instances ; which is why I took for granted that HHonors would award bonus points for redemption stays like SPG.

Actually SPG Gold status is quite a joke !
