Anyone else disappointed in the new cheese and cracker tray? Amtrak shrunk it and jacked up the price to $5.25. Some of the other cafe items changed, too.

Oh, so that would explain why it's been out-of-stock lately. Even though it required undoing a small mountain of plastic, it was one of the less processed items on the cafe menu -- but for $5, you can assemble a nice little cheese + cracker spread from any competent grocery.
I did notice some sandwich/salad options on a NE Regional train about a week ago.

On my recent train trip, I packed a chunk of smoked gouda. So nice for snacks. Didn't pack any crackers, though. I guess crackerless cheese suited me.

New cheese tray far inferior.

It's all plastic packaging and little product. What an assault on the environment.

Those 8 oz bottles of water in sleeping cars are an environmental affront (and an annoyance when you have to constantly ask your attendant for more). I wish Amtrak would provide stainless steel bottles as a First Class souvenir and retrofit all sleepers with hydration stations like we have at SFO. The piddly water spigots are at an angle that's awkward for anything but Dixie cups (and the water pressure is usually terrible).

It is a good vegetarian option. Too bad there isn't very much cheese or very many crackers

The other tray was a good option. This one, not so much.
