Hong Kong and Macau - Airport hotel choice for stopoverView Full Version : Airport hotel choice for stopover worldiswide Nov 2, 11, 4:44 am We arrive in hog 9pm and leave 9am next morning. What's the best choice for airport hotel. Don't really care about chain more interested in convenience. Arriving and departing on cx. Thanks Clipper801 Nov 2, 11, 7:15 am There’s the Regal (http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/passenger/arrival/t1/hotel-mice/regal-airport-hotel.html) which is attached to the passenger terminal. However, I have not heard or read anything good about this hotel, lousy service and poor value for money. However, if just one night for the convenience, it may be considered. I have not personally stayed at this hotel, just hearsay. Otherwise, near the airport, both Marriott Skycity (http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/passenger/arrival/t1/hotel-mice/skycity-marriott-hotel.html) and Novotel Citygate (http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/passenger/arrival/t1/hotel-mice/novotel-citygate-hongkong.html) are near the airport and are very convenient. If you have some Starwood points to burn or want to earn some Starwood points, there is the W atop the Airport Express train (http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/transport/to-from-airport/airport-express.html) Kowloon Station. You will have to take the AE train but it's very convenient. There is a kiosk in the "buffer area" immediately after Custom & Excise inspection but before the public meet and greet area where you can purchase your tickets. There is check-in service at the AE Kowloon Station before you board the train back to the airport the next morning. The hotel is atop the train station and a very large shopping mall called Element but you arrive so late and leaving so early that there will not be any shop open. You may also consider the Plaza Premium lounge ( http://www.plaza-network.com/index.php/locations/hongkong) to spend the night at the airport. However, the sleep area is not very private. worldiswide Nov 2, 11, 10:49 pm Thanks for all the information. You've given me great options for consideration jerry a. laska Nov 3, 11, 12:20 pm I've stayed at the Regal, it wasn't as dire as people make it out to be. Very convenient as it is about a 5 minute walk. It's not really cheap, but it's very close and convenient. arods3 Nov 3, 11, 3:12 pm Is there a cheaper place to stay in price? $400 a night all around is way out of my budget. rkkwan Nov 3, 11, 6:00 pm Is there a cheaper place to stay in price? $400 a night all around is way out of my budget. Hard to believe, but there are really only 3 hotels in the vicinity of HKG. Regal connected to the terminal; and the SkyCity Marriott and Novotel nearby. Anywhere else is at least 15 minutes away (which would be the two hotels at Disneyland HK). The planners at HKG never envision the airport to be a transiting hub for casual international travelers. jaimemayo Nov 3, 11, 7:42 pm I have stayed at Regal Wings in the airport and liked it very much. The location can't be beat. Check-in is slow, though. I am going to HKG next week for two nights and will stay at Regal Wings again. I am paying about $200 per night through Expedia. |
