For the first time in dozens and dozens of stays at all the various Hilton Properties, the rate presented to us when we checked in last night was significantly higher then the rate on our reservation. We questioned it, they asked us what our rate was and when we produced the reservation they said OK and changed the amount.
The woman checking in next to us looked at her reservation, and sure enough she was getting overcharged too. She didn't notice it because the amount she was agreeing to was about what the total (room plus tax) was on her reservation, and she assumed that was the total, not the pretax.
This was a Hampton Inn I've stayed in before (Groton, CT) without any problems, but for some reason the system was printing out the reservations with numbers different then what they should have been.
It always pays to check to be sure the rate is correct.
