Nordic Countries - One night in Copenhagen?

We have the option on our way to OSL to stay the night in Copenhagen.
We would arrive at 10pm and the flight out the next day could be as late as 2:40 in the afternoon.
Given this timeframe, is there a place we could stay, and then places we could go in the morning to tour Copenhagen on a tight schedule? Would it be worthwhile to do so?

Stay at the airport Hilton which is attached to the terminal. Next morning you can check the bags to OSL first thing in the morning, then take the metro to downtown Copenhagen for some sightseeing without your bags. You should be able to walk around some and see the changing of the guard before heading back to the airport for your 2:40 flight.

Good suggestion to do the check-in first before heading into the city center. There may be some morning guided tours that start around 9 a.m. and finish by noon. Otherwise walking around by yourself with a map and some guide book may work out well enough.
And as security at the airport should take no longer than 10-15 minutes to clear at that time of day, an arrival back to the airport by 1:45 or even 2 p.m. should be more than sufficient even if having to deal with lines at security and passport control.

Thanks, Captain Miles, for your advice! I booked a reward night stay for mid-Feb @ the CPH Airport Hilton "in a premium room" for 40,000 points. Arriving early & hoping to get upgraded!

This town is big enough to be a metropolis with shopping, culture and nightlife par excellence, yet still small enough to be intimate, safe and easy to navigate.

Rent a bike to blend in with the locals. You can rent them all over town and enjoy the best urban biking in the world!

Possible similar situation to OP, but arriving maybe around 2000 and departing to YYZ around 1225. Same recommendation, or go on into the city on arrival? And, if city, specific hotel recommendations in the city would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I would still stay at the Hilton, but in your case go into town for the evening. The Hilton is arguably the nicest hotel in Copenhagen until the D'Angleterre reopens and the Metro connection makes the location convenient.

I am arriving in CPH and got a 5k CP booking but come back on cruise for one night
with 8.20 am flt the next day am i best to stay in the city( remembering I have bags off cruise around 10am)
or go back to apt checkin then schlep back to the city?
if staying in the city is it worth the radisson approx $US300 with the 50k promo

I'm not sure whether I understand exactly what you are asking, but attempting to clarify:
You arrive at Copenhagen to go on a cruise. Before the cruise you have a booking at the Copenhagen Crowne Plaza (at Ørestad). After the cruise: your ship is docking and you will be disembarking at 10 AM. The day after disembarking from the cruise you are flying out at 8.20 AM, and now you are asking whether you should stay in town or closer to/ at the airport.
In your situation, I would definitelty stay at the airport Hilton, if you could snag a good rate. I certainly would rather pay USD 300 at the Hilton than at either of the Radissons! The refurbished d'Angleterre would of course be something else when it reopens...
The convenience of not having to transfer to the airport at 6 AM in the morning is more than worth the extra metro trip back to downtown. You would in any case have a significant transfer from the ship in the morning, so adding an extra 10 minutes to go to Kastrup is of no significance. As you might gather, the airport Hilton is the Copenhagen hotel of choice for many on this forum. The Radisson is OK for Tivoli and the Central Station (which have to be accessed by local train, not Metro from the airport; just as quick but not as frequent or reliable in my experience, YMMV) USD 300 is expensive though.
The Crowne Plaza is on the airport metro line, one or two stops from the airport. I don't know the hotel, but the area is rather non-descript, and the location is neither downtown, nor airport proper.

you absolutely got my situation correct.
we are flying from sydney direct to CPH so thought we wouldnt want to go into town that night anyway so when the 5000 pts CP deal came in we thought it appropriate'
the reason i was thinking radisson was the 50k bonus which finishes the net day.
i would love to do the hilton but am torn on the 50k bonus against no promo with hilton.
but thankyou for your imput it is very much appreciated. apparently we are going to the freeport terminal I can only imagine the cost to and from!

Good job deciphering the question, KSU! Note that there are many Radissons in CPH and the prices vary. The Falkoner used to be inconvenient but is now 20 min via metro to the airport. I expect that this is the one that is likeliest to have a good rate.

Slight modification: probably arriving CPH by train around 1830. So it appears I have to stop at the Hbf for a train connection to the airport. Is there a reasonably good place near the Hbf for a night, rather than going out to the airport, then coming back in to see a bit of the city?
Cheers.

Radisson Scandinavia, Palace Hotel (Scandic), Marriot Copenhagen and Scandic Copenhagen are all very central hotels. Upping it: Hotel D'Angleterre.
Radisson Scandinavia it is. Thanks, onobond!
