Not a problem, SIN is a safe and honest city/country. There is a surcharge for taxi fares for late night travel. All the metres are computerized and will give you an itemized receipt for all charges including time of day, pickup point surcharges.
2)plan on 3 days there and then to KUALA LAMPUR
best way to go?? Depending on how far you are from airport or train station at SIN or KUL and what you are carrying.
3)i was going to KL 2 days.. other sugestions ..i have 2 other days..
4)would you fly back from Singapore or KL??
Since you are in KL unless there is a large saving I would save tha hassel of going back to SIN just to fly home.

best way to go??

Bus. Many buses from downtown Singapore to downtown LK. The bus you take depends on where you want to be dropped off in KL. The bus companies will pick you up at your hotel in Singapore. Talk to your hotel concierge in Singapore. They should be able to guide you to the right bus.
Bus is fast and you avoid the hassle of the airport experience. The road is great and the rest rooms at the border and rest stop are very clean.

I took the bus from the Sheraton Singapore to the Westin KL. BTW, I loved the KL Westin. Great location !

3)was going to KL 2 days.. other sugestions ..i have 2 other days..

Langkawi. Has 3 Starwood properties with cash and points options. Cheap flights to/from KL.

1) Very easy like others have said, take a cab from the airport.

2) The bus ride and flight in actually take about the same time considering early check-in and KLIA to the city. I think it costs about two times more to travel via planes from SIN-KUL

3) You can go to Melecca or Penang. Both Unesco sites if for culture visits, if for resort, like someone has posted, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu or even Penang has resorts.

4) You mean flying back to your home country? It depends on what carrier you want to fly out with, miles earning/burning.

5) Singapore is more expensive in general.

If you're arriving in the evening, you can take the train to KL from Woodlands (in Singapore, but more expensive) or Johor Bahru (cheaper, but you have to cross the border). It's slower than the bus, but the hard sleepers are cheap and very comfortable. Plus you arrive early in the morning (7:30 am), and there are shower rooms in KL Sentral where you can wash up for RM 5.

That was what we did for a 2 days hop over to KL and Melaka. 2 nights of hotels were saved towards the hawker fund! :D

Lots of short flights out of SIN. You might look at some Borneo destinations such as Kuching or Kota Kinablu. Much cheaper than SIN.

I had the unfortunate experience of crossing the land border between Singapore and Malaysia on a weekend getaway to Malacca. It took a total of 3 hours to cross both sides, which was explained as congestion due to the school holidays. Most of the 3 hours was spent on the bus itself because it couldn't even get to a parking bay at the border crossing.

Check the local holiday schedule before getting on that bus to KL.

Checking local holidays should be part of trip planning, not just for SG/KL crossing.

Not only on holidays, on fridays too.

I remembered crossing at 3am on sunday to JB side and it took less than 10 mins.

So it really depends on the number of cars.

Well, having crossed the US/Canada border on multiple occasions before/during/after long weekends, I must say I had far better luck driving there than in Singapore/Malaysia. Hard to believe the jam could get 3 hours ... quite incredible and definitely not expected even with the utmost pre-planning.

Have your tried crossing US/Canada by bus on long weekends where there is no visa/passport checks to board the bus?

We had to disembark and enter the immigration building each time (at least since 9/11), but the whole process from reaching the line for the border to getting on the highway out never took more than an hour.
