Asiana Club - Dilemma: 3xQS or 2xF plus dice roll

Have 3F awards booked to ICN next spring (on UA, sadly).

Coming back, my return date has the following available:
3xC on 747 (no thanks, but see below)
2xF on 747
3xC on 777 (QS)

Being a bit of gambler, I booked the 2F for my wife and son and am going to wait on 3rd seat popping up in next 6 months.

I could end up just coughing up $4k for one way in F, which sucks but I'd do it if push came to shove. Could also just sit in C on 747, but wouldnt be able to help wife with toddler son up in F. Finally, could just book all in QS on later 777 flight but I've loved OZ F so much that I'm willing to risk it. Any thoughts on what the right move is?

If it were me and I had enough miles, I would book OZ QS as a back up and wait on the UA F to open up.

If I didn't have enough miles, then I'd have to weigh the variable: being together vs being separate vs paying vs comfort.

The most important one takes priority, there is always no certainty that what you have today will be there tomorrow.

To clarify, trying to get OZ F not UA F. Have 3 UA F seats on outbound (XF3 was available) but really want OZ for flight back.

If $4000 is worth OZ F seat for you, then why not.
Just gamble and see if you come ahead.

Another option is to buy C ticket and upgrade using OZ miles if you have them.
