Thailand - cancel trip to bankgkok due to flooding?????

planning on FIRST trip there around Nov 18
saw news of flooding---is it in tourist zones??
would you go elsewhere?..will be flying from singapore

Hold off. In SIN, you're already in the neighborhood. I'm booked a week after you and I'm thinking SGN or PNH. The rest of Thailand will be open for business though. I'm leaning toward BKK still being a mess in 3 weeks. wj

I'm crossing my fingers things start to dry out by mid-November. You may want to start looking for back-up options. Siam Reap, Chiang Mai, Krabi maybe?

I'll be in Thailand starting Dec 3, and although we aren't spending heavy time in Bangkok, we do have two planned nights there. I'm less concerned about not seeing the tourist sites then just about being able to get to and from our hotels and flights. Definitely nervous at this point.

I had planned to visit by end of Nov. I figured even if the flood was over, many of the areas would still be a mess.

I've already re-booked to SGN. Too bad, was looking forward to getting to BKK again.

The river turned about 4 weeks ago and, while still very high, the lake level is slowly dropping. There are scattered intense storms still, but there have been a number of completely rain free days.

I'm leaning toward BKK still being a mess in 3 weeks. wj

You might consider moving to Hua Hin.

It's a long drive, but it'll be well out of the path of the flood and the Sheraton Hua Hin is very nice.
