Hilton HHonors - Best NY Financial district property?
Looks like I'll be in NY week after next. My group is staying in the Marriott Financial Center on West St. Our meetings are nearby in Three World Financial Center at the corner of Vesey and West. I hate to lose the stay credits in a year when I'm traveling so little - but I can't be too far away from my team. What's a nearby good option for me? Looks like the Embassy Suites is closest? Is the Millenium down there really closed?
I think the ES is your best choice, I stayed there in early August and it was typical ES quality, although there is no pool http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif.
The Millenium was once said to be re-opening in May, but is still currently not accepting any reservations.

Some people here have been unsatisfied with the ES, but I just stayed there on an award stay and was quite happy.
I easily got upgraded to a corner king studio suite with great views and an absurd amount of space. Two TV's, fax machine, stereo with CD (albeit a cheap model, but good enough), VCR, hefty conference room style table.
FWIW, are there any other Hilton financial district properties? Aren't the others all midtown?
I won't hold my breath for an upgrade, even as a Diamond, since I'll be there mid-week and this is such a biz part of town.. but so long as it's decent, I'll probably book in. I'll let you know..
Right, no pool. Rooms okay although ours had no veiw at all. The atrim did have a nice view of the river where the cruise ships came and went.
Oh, and the snacks at the reception...don't know what they were, but my kids called them pig ears!
Other than that, pretty nice stay.

Spent a few days at ES just last week. Room was large with view of river. Just a hop, skip & jump to WTC. Stayed on HH award and found some goodies (water/snacks) waiting for me as HH member. Nothing great, but very consistent with ES quality.

I'll let you know as soon as it's confirmed! Think it's mid next week..
I've spent the past month or so staying in the two hotels you've mentioned. My pick would be the ES, for the large rooms and reasonably comfortable beds. The Marriott is slightly better on service levels (still not great, but better than the ES), but it's a full notch below most other Marriott properties. Given a choice, I'd happily choose a decent hotel in midtown and commute downtown every morning (which is what I'm doing now).
