I'm flying Southwest SAN to BWI next week, and am wondering whether I can go to the United Club from the Southwest area before my flight. Basically, are the two parts of Terminal 1 connected after security?

On the maps I can't tell if they are two separate security areas. If I have to go back and forth through security, won't be worth it.

Thanks!!

Welcome to Flyertalk.

If you look at the dining options in Terminal one, they are divided into three sections.

Pre security
Post-security—Boarding Area B/Gates 20-36, Ticketed Passengers Only
Post-security—Boarding Area C/Gates 40-48, Ticketed Passengers Only

You would have to clear security to get to it.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, mbell77! :) Since your query is specific to the SAN airport, we'll shift this thread over to the California forum for further discussion. Thanks! :) /JY1024, TravelBuzz co-moderator

Hi mbell77 -- welcome to FlyerTalk!

SAN has three terminals (Commuter, Terminal 1, Terminal 2). Both United and Southwest are in Terminal 1.

Within Terminal 1, there are three different gate areas with their own security stations (with different screening methods), none of which connect airside.

+Gates 1, 1a & 2 -- Southwest only
+Gates 3 through 10 -- Southwest only
+Gates 11 through 18 -- United and Alaska

So, yeah, back and forth through security if you want to visit United's club.
