India - Hotel in Mumbai - ITC Grand Central vs Taj PAlace

Hoping someone can give some advice...

Staying for 5 days in Mumbai
Want to go shopping, resteraunts, chill out

I can stay at ITC Grand Central for free on points..how is the location? I know it is not ideal but is it better to spend ~300 or so a night on the Taj Palace or comparable?

Obviously using points would be nice but I dont want to ruin my time there frustrated by traffic...

Advice would be appreciated..
