Greetings everyone:
I just got off the phone with V Australia and they tell me that effective November 3, 2011 - they will be moving to Terminal 5 from Terminal 3 in LAX, has anyone else heard anything about this?

As i understood it VA flights (after their new code share with Delta) would arrive at terminal 5 (replacing the TBIT for arrivals) and depart from terminal 3 (which they share with Alaska and Virgin America). I hadn't heard that they were now or soon departing from terminal 5 also although i wouldn't be surprised if this happened eventually.

They actually told me that the flights would depart Terminal 5 beginning November 3, 2011 as well. Although I did see that my itinerary for the return flight from SYD to LAX arrives in Terminal 5 but assuming even if VA did arrive terminal 5, after going through US Customs, wouldn't one already be in landside or would it still be airside so one can just walk to the gates in Terminal 5 for the Delta flight?

After US customs, one would be landside, so you would have to reclear security at T5 or wherever your onward flight is located.
According to the V Australia website, departures will still be from terminal 3. http://www.vaustralia.com.au/about-us/media-releases/view-media-releases/P_018263.html

Thanks BTA, is clearing customs at T5 going to be any faster than TBIT? It would seem if they moved departures to T5, they would be abandoning Virgin America, which is like their own family. Wonder if changing their arrivals to T5 would actually make it less convenient for people who need to take VX since it would definitely benefit the people who need to take DL.

Did they actually already start having arrivals at T5 instead of TBIT as their webpage says T5 for arrivals, with no mention of TBIT:
http://www.vaustralia.com.au/before-you-fly/at-the-airport/los-angeles-international/index.htm
V Australia flight numbers VA 1 - VA 199 arrive at Terminal 5, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and depart from Terminal 3, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

My VA itinerary from Sabre's virtually there dated September 27th actually already says T5 for my flight from SYD to LAX on November 28th so hope T5 is fast and efficient for the customs/immigration.

A little faster but no more efficient as the facilities are much smaller than TBIT and if you arrive at the same time as one of the DL Asia or South America flights your SOL.

Do you think if I landed on VA Flight #1 at T5 at 9:30AM, would I be able to catch my 11:45AM DL Domestic flight to SFO at T5, this is on a VA e-ticket codeshared DL flight.

Yes there should be no reason why not as long as on the same e ticket. If for some reason you do miss it, DL will put you on the next connection.

I know about the accomodations part, but as long as there is enough time for the original connection. Thanks though!
