Korean Air Skypass - Why bother getting C-class seating assignment

:td:Flew KE C-class from Bangkok to Shanghai via Seoul.
Had requested assigned seating assignments but upon boarding each flight segment seating reassigned (no equipment changes).
I must ask myself the question, why bother requested/obtaining advanced seating assignments when KE won't honor them............. ya know KE their are alternatives to flying with you (and they're gonna be used)!

Just out of curiosity, did they give you any reasons for reassignment?

along the same lines -- this new advanced seat selection available only at 30 days prior is driving me nuts too.
I called in exactly at the 30 day mark for an upcoming flight I have in Prestige...and somehow...no aisle seats available. hmm?

Hmmm, are you sure there was no equipment change?
Sometimes it's not that obvious - like a change from the A330-200 to the A330-300?

Same here.
The reason given - a lot of seats have been pre-assigned before July when the 30-day rule took effect.

no I checked............ A330-300's booked and used............. I suspect another more important (to KE) flyer just wanted the seats we booked and bumped us out but since their configuration is 2-3-2 and I was flying with my wife I made ADVANCE reservations for the 2 (verses getting caught in the middle seat but that was toooooooooooooo complicated for KE and upon our return to BKK tomorrow that will be the LAST time I opt to fly with KE as never get this problem (as yet) from Asiana

services are generally better in OZ. so i agree with you. surprised KE would do this to you. i'd escalate this if i were you, and demand some sort of compensation.

I had somewhat similar experience. I've booked a SEA-BKK-SEA in Y-class and I wanted forward seating that was not available online so I called them and was told that those seats won't be available 'till check in time. I then asked why and they say they are for KE's more frequent flyers.
They offered me row 42 D&E on 777 with 3-3-3 config. Never mention the 30 days prior though.
About a month ago had another surprise. Got an email telling me there's a time change. That time change was giving me 20 min for change of aircraft. I called again and asked if that was enough time for the a/c change and she told me emphatically NO! I asked if I can depart a day early from SEA and stay overnight in ICN without penalties/up charge and she said sure. Asked if she provide hotel and she said sure. Got email confirmation for the new flight and the outgoing hotel reservation.
One thing she did not do is confirm my inbound hotel at ICN as I have another 11 hrs of layover. for that I have to call later in Jan.
We'll see what happens:confused:

well, at least I got the assigned/requested seats on the Beijing-Incheon leg and without asking, or saying anything, they upgraded our Incheon-Bangkok seating to First (although I can't understand why as they had more then 65% of C-class seats available)
