I thought this is a normal practice, for example, this message was
included in the confirmation email from SQ:

CREDIT CARD VERIFICATION AND LETTER OF INDEMNITY
Please note that you will be required to present the credit/ debit card used for this booking for verification at the time of check-in at the Airport.

really? i think i did not see this message in the ana north america website one month ago, maybe i missed it:(

Read about this being enforced in the air canada forum....but this was a couple of years ago? Someone got a reward ticket and paid with their cc. On one leg they flew on sq and was asked to show the cc which he had gotten rid of...people in canada get and get rid ofone of two cc that gives aeroplan miles..so this doesn't sound far fetch.but yeah would be such a hassle especially if they asked for it and you don't have it
