hi, all:
I just read about how attractive is to redeem ANA miles on star alliance partners using the distance based. I immediately wanted to see whether it holds true for my long planned vacation to Hawaii from Seattle.
Both UA/CO offers one stop flight via SFO, with a round trip distance barely over 3000 miles, so according to the chart it should be 22,000 ANA miles for low economy seats. it will be a great saving as revenue tickets priced around $500 and other FF plans charge around 40,000 miles for low economy seats. However, when I tried to do the search on ANA, it shows 38,000 miles!!! which is for the 4000 to 7000 miles distance tier. And even for trip from SFO to Hawaii costs the same miles.
Did I do anything wrong here? Or is there any exceptions to the redemption chart? Like from the US to Hawaii?
