I've had a Spirit Airline Credit Card for about 6 years as I fly out of AC every so often. Accumulated 40k miles, and since I'm a Spirit Airlines Credit Card holder I can redeem at minimums for flight awards. I was happy.
Then...a replacement card from Barclays Bank arrived for me - and it is not Spirit branded. I didn't think much of it until I tried to book 4 flights yesterday, then I was very unpleasantly surprised. The agent stated that unless I use a Spirit branded card, I can't redeem for minimums and now I am no longer a Spirit Airlines Credit Card holder.
Quite frankly, this is rather awful. When I signed up for this program I got the card, did the travel, got the miles - now I can't redeem them at cardholder level since they sent me (not by my choice) some other card. I don't know if there is still Spirit representation on this board but if so, I would like to discuss this. I don't want to open yet another credit account just to use the miles at levels I was promised as long as I was a cardholder in good standing.
I'm in good standing, just not with a Spirit card, and that had nothing to do with me so I'm not to happy with getting the fallout.
