Thailand - "Overday" layover (10 hours) with wife and babby - what to do?

Hi everyone,
We're flying through BKK in March on CDG-BKK-HKG, and we have about 10 hours (0630 to 1600) of ground time. I do want to use the Royal Orchid lounge, having heard much goodness about it, but I figure 3 hours max is enough for it, so I am thinking of making a sneak-out to the city between 0630 and about 1300.
Would anyone make any suggestions on what to do - especially considering babby is present (well... 20 months old by then, so I guess not quite anymore, but anyway).
One wild idea I had was to take the Airport Express to Makkasan, then Blue to Hua Lamphong, then grab a taxi to try to see the Emerald Buddha and come back to see Wat Traimit. This is purely just browsing ideas on the iPad - so I'm totally open to other ideas.
Any help welcome!
Thanks,
-pN

Airport train to Phaya Thai. To reach the palace, you can take the Skytrain to reach the Saphan Taksin Station which is on the National Stadium/Silom line. From the Saphan Taksin station, one can take the river ferry to the Tha tien pier. From here it's about a 5 minute walk.

Mong-Fleuri's recommendation works as well as just taking a taxi from Phaya Thai station.

Understood. River ferry sounds like an interesting option, will keep it in mind!

That might work too, as I have a babby to deal with - any idea how much the taxi would run for that distance?

Taxi would be 100B +/- 10B.
The river ferry is also a great idea and will make traffic irrelevant. The problem is that it's one more transpo service to navigate.
If you do take the BTS to the ferry: Get off at Tha Chang, not Tha Tien, for the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew). There is a decent lunch resto overlooking the river (over the river) in the building just to the south of Tha Chang in the Thai Royal Navy building. Menu is in Thai/English and food is decent. A good choice in that area. Walk out from the pier and turn right in the market. The building you see in front of you is your target.

Cool - I like this idea. I could prob taxi there, sprint to the Buddha, and take the ferry back/lunch there before going back to the airport, seems like that'd work. Any chance you coud googlemap the lunch place?
Anything else I should do/see there?
[edit] is it Ratchanawi Samosorn mentioned kinda further down in the text on http://www.reserve-hotel.com/Destination/Thailand/Bangkok/Food-Restaurants.html ?

Yes, that apparently is the place, though I've never heard any karaoke there.
